With songs that move from bristling blast beats to subterranean crawls, Batillus (buh-TILL-us) cohere the extremes of heavy music into a surge of massive riffing, rolling over and descending on the listener with the force and intensity of a sudden storm. The band’s debut full-length, ‘Furnace,’ will be released this Spring via Seventh Rule Recordings.
Musically speaking, the album is DØØM at its core à la Graves at Sea or Electric Wizard, but Batillus also cohesively incorporate industrial sounds and themes. “We’re all big fans of Godflesh, Ministry, Swans, stuff like that,” says Summers, “and some other less obvious bands like Wold, Pharaoh Overlord, Kraftwerk, The Sisters of Mercy, and Depeche Mode.”
