The piece New Slaves was two years in the making, it served as both the center piece to the record bearing it’s name and the overarching five year continuance of Zs, and it is with much compassion that we mark the piece’s final pass into the quietus. Last rites were performed via the collaborative remix  project Essence Implosion! which was issued earlier this year. Today we give notice of the commencement of a three step funeral march with the release of THIS BODY WILL BE A CORPSE (in play button form via Parte),  SKY BURIAL (in cassette form via Words Plus Dreams) & “33″ (in 2×7″ form via Northern  Spy).

As New Slaves passes into the ether, Zs have begun scoring the followup ex novo and, though we are suiting up for that battle starting right now, it will be a couple of years before their work is fully realized. In the interim, brooklyn based avant-garde label Northern Spy have stepped in to work with the band’s numerous extraneous projects including Ben Greenberg’s Hubble, Ian Antonio’s Memory Locke, Sam Hillmer’s Black Crown Ceremony, as well as a boxed set reissue of the  bands earlier sextet releases. This new working relationship will be  celebrated with the aforementioned funeral step “33″ to be released in early November alongside the Hubble debut full-length “Hubble Drums”.

Also cued up for release is the release of Sam Hillmer’s Diamond Terrifier cassette, Himalayan Appalachia via Sockets: four compositions of solo acoustic & effected saxophone madness which was coincidentally recorded by TSR label founder Rich Zerbo. This will see release on September 17th, release party festivities will commence the same night at Death By Audio with a number of musicians including label mates NYMPH.

We will do our best to keep you apprised of all these Zs related-developments with utmost excitement while the band enters this parturient state leading up to their next TSR full length.
