Last night, Isis showed why they stand alone amidzt the fray of all the present-day art metal, and proved they deserve their standing at the front of the herd. With all the brutality, and all the contemplative, sonic dimension-transcendence that they’ve always shown, Isis simply cover more ground more effectively than any other post/art/ambient aggressive band. period.
We started their set standing almost directly behind the annoying (yet undeniably important) pillar that grows from the floor directly in front of the stage at the paradise. deciding i could do better, i invited myself backstage, and into the sidestage area to shoot for the rest of the evening.
